Scarlett Johansson is an American singer and actress who was born in NYC in the United States on the 22nd of November the 22nd of November, 1984. Her performance has won an acclaim in a diverse spectrum of genres such as period dramas, thrillers and action adventures. Johansson was the child of a filmmaker and an architect. The family is from New York City. Hunter, her twin brother, and she were both the youngest out of four kids. At the age of seven an old, the actress started casting for commercials on television. She was enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after, and later attended the Professional Children's School, Manhattan to further her education. At the age of eight old, she starred with Ethan Hawke as Sophistry in Off-Broadway productions. When she was nine she made her acting debut in Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson was later seen in Just Cause (1995), however, her breakthrough occurred with Manny & Lo a coming of age drama about sisters who run away. Next, she received the praise of critics for playing the role of a teenager who experienced an accident which caused her to be damaged on screen in The Horse Whisperer (1998). She gained more attention for her performance in Ghost World (2002) as the outcast cynical Rebecca.
